Phil\u00e9mon Barbier<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Born in 2000 and passionate about photography and history since childhood, Phil\u00e9mon Barbier, through his photographic work, aims to cast a new perspective on the changing world. He works across various temporal scales, from current events to long-term subjects, thereby offering a more in-depth documentary view, characterized by the journalistic rigor and sensitivity required for accurate portrayal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By shedding light on the human aspect, his photos narrate the lives of individuals, their social context, intimacy, history, perspective, emotions, and more. His goal is to evoke diverse viewpoints on the world around us and its underlying dynamics. His approach leans towards an artistic style of photography, allowing for multiple interpretations. He uses this approach to tell the stories of the people he encounters, drawing inspiration from contemporary current events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His work has been featured in various media outlets such as Le Monde, l\u2019Obs, le P\u00e8lerin, le JDD, La Croix l\u2019Hebdo, Courrier International, Mediapart, among others. Phil\u00e9mon Barbier is also a member of the SNJ (National Union of Journalists).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Having completed his training in photojournalism at EMI-CFD under the guidance of Julien Daniel and Guillaume Herbaut in 2020, he co-founded the Hors Format collective.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2022, he was awarded the Grande commande nationale de la BNF (National Library of France) and the Grant for New Urban Photography supported by Google and Dysturb at Visa pour l\u2019Image. In 2023, he received the grant for contemporary documentary photography from CNAP (National Center for Visual Arts).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
