In(2)Visible<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is the opening night of the art exhibition, \u201cA Kind Of Magic\u201d. Our works are hung side by side and it is brought to our attention that two of our paintings included in the show share the same title, \u2018So Above As Below\u2019. This would start our extensive dialog, our Journey Into Silence, Visualising the Invisible.<\/gwmw><\/gwmw><\/gwmw><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are two artists, Paris-based Tal Waldman and Vermont US-based Fiona Morehouse, engaging in a collaborative experiment from a distance. Integrating our spiritual studies and mindfulness practices into art making. Our project, \u201cVISUALIZING THE INVISIBLE, A JOURNEY INTO SILENCE\u201d, is a multi-layered dialogue formalized in art works, writing and testimonials; and assembled into a journal-like online blog-\u00a0http:\/\/www.in2visible.com\/<\/a>\u00a0which continues to grow along with the project.<\/gwmw><\/gwmw><\/gwmw><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Asking the questions- How does a committed inner study affect a regular art practice? How can invisible processes be explored and communicated? How does open dialogue and transparent documentation impact the art world? How does a physically distanced collaboration impact a research project?<\/gwmw><\/gwmw><\/gwmw><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our attitude towards \u2018Visualizing the invisible\u2019 varies between experimental gestures, automatique drawing, and intellectual visualization of ideas which are synthesized into consecutive but not homogenous chapters. Our natural choice is a form of communication and documentation that values a process rather than a result. Exposing our most intimate insights and sharing our resources and life experiences, it is a practice in VULNERABILITY through TRANSPARENCY.<\/gwmw><\/gwmw><\/gwmw><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is AN ALTERNATIVE WAY of SHARING ART, We believe that our deep interest in art and mindfulness supports a much needed movement in context to the current global landscape. Adhering to the principles of \u2018slow living\u2019, resisting the notion of faster is better and emphasizing quality over quantity, we are focusing on highlighting the use of art and mindfulness as as an INTEGRATIVE TOOL, proposing an ALTERNATIVE ATTITUDE to life that goes beyond the traditional art making and art sharing, and promote a more self aware and compassionate life.<\/gwmw><\/gwmw><\/gwmw><\/p>\n\n\n\n

TAL WALDMAN<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tal Waldman is an iconoclastic artist who uses different mediums: sculpture, drawing, painting, installation. She mobilizes all possible means to explore the signs and symbols of the universe. An inspiration that also feeds on the different cultures that she encountered during her residencies and studies in Israel, India, Germany, Greece and Paris where she now lives.<\/gwmw><\/gwmw><\/gwmw><\/p>\n\n\n\n

After international and multicultural studies of art and architecture, she worked in the offices of famous architects such as Jean Nouvel, Christian de Portszamparc. In 2006, she decided to devote herself to her art and since then she divides her time between creation, research and publishing.<\/gwmw><\/gwmw><\/gwmw><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the past 25 years Tal has been searching to deepen her mindfulness and has installed a routine of daily practice. It has gradually become clear that her art and mindfulness paths should join. In recent years, she has begun consciously integrating mindfulness into her artwork as a living experiment. Such is the case in \u201cDirected Randomness\u201d (2017-2019), \u201cGolden scars\u201d (2019-2020), \u201cAlphabet\u201d (2019-2020) and now In(2)visible \u2013 \u201cVisualizing the Invisible\u201d project (2020 ongoing).<\/gwmw><\/gwmw><\/gwmw><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Passionate about the transverse nature of visual arts and craft, the pursuit for keeping alive ancestral traditions gained importance in her work where glass, embroidery, wood, up-cycling and drawings are harmonised into a hybrid history. Motivated by a strong personal story, she explores her identity as a mother, a woman and an immigrant, where social themes such as immigration, identity and collective memory, as well as mindfulness and sustainability are explored beyond her personal narrative. It is the case in \u201cEmbroidered Memories\u201d (2012_2016) which explores themes of uprooting, identity and collective memories as in \u201cThe duality of Mother-Woman in 3D stained-glass\u201d (2016-2018).<\/gwmw><\/gwmw><\/gwmw><\/gwmw><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Committed to an environmental approach, Tal is a member of the international project- Art et Society. Her work was presented at the World Congress of Humanities in Li\u00e8ge (2017) calling for challenges and responsibilities for a planet in transition.<\/gwmw><\/gwmw><\/gwmw><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Winner of several awards, her work is regularly exhibited internationally: Museum of Art and Industry \u2018La Piscine\u2019, Roubaix; MPP Museum, Rixheim; Art History Museum, Colombes; Autumn Fair; The Madeleine Church and numerous galleries.<\/gwmw><\/gwmw><\/gwmw><\/gwmw><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cherchant les fils conducteurs entre les compr\u00e9hensions interculturelles des v\u00e9rit\u00e9s universelles, Fiona peint principalement au couteau \u00e0 palette et parfois avec ses doigts, cr\u00e9ant une narration \u00e9nergique qui transcende le temps et l’espace. Passant de l’huile sur toile \u00e0 la gouache sur papier, son style d’un r\u00e9alisme expressif invite \u00e0 explorer les th\u00e8mes de l’interconnexion et de la compr\u00e9hension mutuelle entre les hommes. \u00c0 la fois interrogation personnelle et r\u00e9flexion sur l’humanit\u00e9, elle cherche continuellement \u00e0 d\u00e9construire une vision m\u00e9caniste du monde, en s’alignant sur une r\u00e9alit\u00e9 constitu\u00e9e de relations en r\u00e9seau et de syst\u00e8mes vivants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Int\u00e9ress\u00e9e par le symbolisme et la m\u00e9taphore, Fiona a trois corpus de travaux qui refl\u00e8tent son d\u00e9sir de cr\u00e9er un langage visuel commun servant de pont entre les mondes – Threshold (2018-en cours), reconnaissant l’interaction entre les influences ext\u00e9rieures et int\u00e9rieures sur l’exp\u00e9rience humaine. Axis Mundi (2019- en cours), qui explore l’arbre comme un fil sacr\u00e9 reliant le ciel et la terre. In(2)Visible (2020- en cours), qui exp\u00e9rimente en collaboration avec l’int\u00e9gration des pratiques de pleine conscience dans la cr\u00e9ation artistique.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fiona est une artiste mondiale qui a \u00e9tudi\u00e9 l’art en Italie, fait de l’art en Inde et enseign\u00e9 l’art en Nouvelle-Z\u00e9lande et en Am\u00e9rique centrale. Elle a fond\u00e9 et dirig\u00e9 trois \u00e9coles d’art en studio, a poss\u00e9d\u00e9 et g\u00e9r\u00e9 une galerie d’art et poss\u00e8de de nombreuses installations d’art publiques permanentes \u00e0 travers les \u00c9tats-Unis. Elle a d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 des programmes d’\u00e9tudes en arts int\u00e9gratifs et a anim\u00e9 plusieurs ateliers int\u00e9grant l’art, le yoga et l’immersion dans la nature.<\/gwmw><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Son travail a \u00e9t\u00e9 expos\u00e9 \u00e0 la fois au niveau national et international et ses \u0153uvres font partie de collections priv\u00e9es dans le monde entier. Fiona a \u00e9tudi\u00e9 les beaux-arts et la musique au McDaniel College o\u00f9 elle a obtenu son baccalaur\u00e9at en beaux-arts en 1999. Elle a poursuivi des \u00e9tudes sup\u00e9rieures en art c\u00e9ramique au Hood College de Frederick, dans le Maryland, puis a suivi des cours de peinture et d’encaustique \u00e0 l’Art Students League de New York.<\/gwmw><\/p>\n\n\n\n
