CAN ONE (STILL) SPEAK FREELY?
What is the state of our freedom of expression today?
Is it under threat from the rise of fascism
and the tightening grip of religious, familial, political, cultural, and ideological dogmas?
How do those subjected to oppression, diktats, and censorship
carve out spaces to express themselves
and reclaim their voices?
This question feels ever more urgent
amid the profound upheavals shaping our world.
The Hors Dogma exhibition brings together artists from around the globe,
committed to a practice free from imposed constraints,
open to boundless expression.

Mémoire de l’Avenir (MDA) | Humanités, Arts et Société (HAS)
brings together artists who, through a variety of expressions,
share their reflections on the theme HORS DOGMA.
Societies, whether familial or broader, have always been shaped by dogmas
seen as pillars of their order and harmony.
Religious, social, political, or ideological,
these imposed belief systems restrict open-mindedness
and hinder the continuous questioning essential to an evolving society.
When accepted without debate,
dogma stifles critical thinking and prevents any challenge to established norms.
It extends far beyond religion,
deeply influencing both individual and collective behavior.

THE ARTISTS & CONTRIBUTORS
Anyone who bases, or believes they base, their conduct
—whether internal or external, emotional or active—
on a dogma or a theoretical principle

AKANE
Akane is a French artist and writer of Senegalese descent. With a lifelong sensitivity to artistic expression, he developed a passion for writing and drawing, using them as a means to explore and communicate his thoughts beyond the constraints of societal expectations. Five years ago, he chose to distance himself from the religious dogma of Islam, a journey that has profoundly shaped his creative and intellectual pursuits. His work reflects a commitment to individuality and free expression, challenging imposed narratives and seeking to offer a singular and authentic voice to the world.

BITTERSWEET STING
BitterSweet Sting is a French-Tunisian artist specializing in watercolor and acrylic illustration. Fascinated by the human psyche, she delves into weighty themes such as sexual abuse and indoctrination, creating a striking contrast between the vivid colors of her work and the unsettling narratives they convey.
She is currently working on a graphic novel that blends fiction and reality, inviting audiences to explore the complexities of the human mind, where beauty and absurdity coexist. Her artistic approach, both personal and universal, sparks reflection on crucial societal issues.

BRIGANDE
Brigande is an artist specializing in electronic music. Her work is rooted in sharing and engaging with diverse and eclectic audiences. Her style blends traditional elements with new technologies, creating a unique fusion.
She is also involved in the restoration of musical instruments alongside Mr. Dierstein, a leading expert in vintage synthesizer maintenance. Together, they have contributed to the development of the new Ondes Martenot, a legendary instrument that holds a significant place in both French and global musical heritage.
ELJO WELLINGTON
Trained in visual arts, Eljo has dedicated the past decades primarily to his musical career. While his graphic work shifted toward a professional focus, he honed his skills in digital arts.
Now, in a return to his roots, Eljo has picked up his brushes once again to reconnect with his first artistic passions.

MESTOURA
Bathed in Mediterranean light, I grew up fascinated by photography—its silent language and its ability to suspend the fleeting. A self-taught photographer, I explore this form of expression and its history.
I am capturing moments before they vanish.
My work plays with the tension between the present and eternity. Like cinema, an image lingers within us, feeding imagination, fears, and hopes.
As I approach 40, with long-dormant dogmas resurfacing, I remain convinced of art’s power—to awaken, question, resist, and heal.

KEN & BARBIETRUC
Calligraphy
This project was born from the meeting of two artists—one breaking free from his chains to embrace a life of uninhibited expression, the other a free spirit, unconstrained by norms and rules.
From the fusion of these two journeys emerges a unique artistic mix, which they invite you to experience.

The STUDENT | L’ÉLÈVE
is a former believer who explored various religious and philosophical currents before taking a step back from dogmas. His quest for truth and his interest in the big questions of existence led him to found R.P.M.P, a Discord server dedicated to open debates. On this platform, believers and non-believers, of all political orientations, exchange freely around the themes of religion, philosophy, metaphysics and politics. The Student sees it as an essential space to cultivate tolerance and enrich mutual understanding, encouraging everyone to explore and question their beliefs in a spirit of respectful dialogue.
Te Wai (Tāt)
Nō Whaingaroa / Waikato ahau, e noho ana ki Tamaki Makaurau me te Mokoia.
Raised under the ever-gazing Maungarei mountain in a small village called Mokoia (Panmure) in Tamaki Makaurau from the creative age of four, I am a local artist deeply rooted in my vibrant community.
My art is a multifaceted journey, spanning calligraphy, graffiti, photography, fine arts, and animation. Each piece reflects my personal and cultural experiences, blending reality and imagination. Through bold visuals and intricate designs, I explore the human state, turning spontaneous “doodles” into profound reflections. My work invites viewers into my creative psyche, offering a captivating and emotional exploration of identity and the world around us.

The art of artists in times of war and conflict often arises from adversity…
Yet, artistic practice remains, above all, a powerful way to transcend linguistic, religious, and political dogmas boundaries.
